This section covers electric power systems used with Utilihab structures. In recent years the design of prefabricated architecture in particular has increasingly taken into account the use and integration of independent power systems, due in large part to the tendency of the more novel forms of prefab housing to be located on the fringes of the traditional sub/urban infrastructure as well as growing concern for environmental issues and a desire to employ wind and solar energy. Even in the suburban communities there has been a steady growth in home power system use owing to the combination of environmental concern, increasingly severe weather, and the steady deterioration in reliability of the traditional grid in countries like the US thanks to chronic mis-management. Consequently, the Utilihab components catalog includes a number of independent power options and, as with many other aspects of the building system, seeks to push the envelope in capability with some novel technology.
